Coco Holds Great Meaning

Ava Kremer, Staff writer

Coco, a children’s film on Disney plus proves much more than that. It was released to theaters

on Nov. 22, 2018. Although this movie is four years old it still has a great message and

is entertaining. This film is perfect to watch with friends and family because of its PG rating.

It can be enjoyed by all ages and groups.

This film tells the story of Miguel a 12-year-old boy’s passion for playing and performing music despite his family’s ban and hatred for it. Through great adventure during Día de Muertos (The Day of the Dead), Miguel arrives in the land of the dead. While in the land of the dead, he meets a deceiving jokester named Hector and embarks on a spontaneous journey to learn about his family’s history.

The movie is directed by Lee Unkrich and produced by Darla K. Anderson. Many of the voice actors include Gabriel Iglesias, Jamie Camil, and Anthony Gonzalez. It is rated 97/100 on the Tomatometer, and is highly praised by critics and fans. The movie shows the great moral of following your dreams and not listening to anyone who tries to tear you down. I would rate this movie a 8/10. Even with this being a kids’ movie it shows great meaning to all people.
