Battle of Five Armies, Prequel to Lord of the Rings

Kevin Ley, Staff writer

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies was when the Dwarfs got their homeland back other powers wanted in on the riches that Smaug left behind. The elves wanted The White Gems of Lasgalen and the Dwarfs did not want to part with any of the loot because it belonged to them. Then the humans wanted a piece of the gold because in getting their kingdom back the Dwarfs destroyed the human city. Finally, the Orks were rising to power and wanted the kingdom because it was a powerful spot in the mountains and it was easily defendable. The Orks’ goal was to take over the world and with the Dwarf’s old kingdom, it would be easy.

Upon seeing the Orks and knowing that if they were to win the kingdom the world would end the other four armies rallied together and defeated the Orks before they had a chance to take over the kingdom. The four armies defeated the Orks, however, it coasted the life of the Dwarf King and his brother. This left a void in the kingdom that was quickly filled. The Elves got The White Gems of Lasgalen, and the humans got enough to rebuild their city, while Dwarfs were able to take back their kingdom.

This was very important because this stopped the Orks from being able to take over the world. This also sets the scene for the Lord of the Rings because it sets up the coming fight for the ring. This also closes off the hobbit because the Orks were defeated and the balance of power was restored between the Elves and Dwarfs.

My Rating: I give this movie a 10/10 because it is action-packed and loaded with twists with a terrific ending. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for action and a coming-together movie.
