Love at First Sight on Netflix is a love story about how fate brought two people together.
The movie was released on September 15, 2023. It’s rated PG-13 and is 1 hour and 31 minutes
long. The cast includes Ben Hardy as Oliver, Haley Lu Richardson as Hadley Sullivan,
Andromeda Godfrey as Cate Sullivan, Jameela Jamil as the narrator, Rob Delaney as Andrew
Sullivan, Dexter Fletcher as Val Jones, Sally Phillips as Tessa Jones, Tom Tayler as Luther
Jones, and Katrina Nare as Charlotte. The director of the film was Vanessa Caswell and the
producer was Matt Kaplan.
The movie is about two people who fall in love by fate. Hadley Sullivan misses her flight
by 4 minutes and has to stay and wait for the next possible flight to London for her father’s
wedding. While waiting for her next flight, she ends up sitting next to Oliver Jones and he
notices that her phone is dead and lends her his phone charger. They continue to sit and talk
while waiting for their flights where they find out they have the same one. When boarding the
plane they have seats apart from each other and believe they will never see each other again.
After Oliver sits in his seat he notices that his seatbelt is broken and asks the flight attendant
what he should do. She moves Oliver to a different seat where he is sitting next to Hadley on the
flight. They spend the rest of their flight talking and growing close to one another. After the flight,
Hadley tries to get Oliver’s number. Once she receives his phone number he has to leave
causing them to split ways. Once Hadley goes to save his number, her phone dies causing her
to lose his contact. Once arriving in London she goes to her father’s wedding. After the wedding,
she decides to try and find Oliver, causing her to try and find where he had mentioned he was
going. Upon arriving at Oliver’s family event which she thought was a wedding but was his
mother’s memorial service. She doesn’t find Oliver there but Instead meets his younger brother,
Luther. She continues to learn that Oliver’s mother isn’t dead yet but is dying of cancer.

Once Hadley finds Oliver he is happy to see her and they sit and talk about why he had lied. He isn’t
fully honest with her and she becomes unhappy with him and leaves but has forgotten her stuff.
Oliver notices this and takes her stuff with him with the intention of bringing it back to her. Once
Hadley discovers that she has forgotten her stuff and tries to return to the memorial but gets lost
on her way. Hadley calls her father to see if he can come get her meanwhile Oliver is still at his
mother’s memorial. Once it seems that they have both gone their separate ways Oliver’s family
encourages him to go after Hadley so he decides to go to her father’s wedding reception. Once
Oliver finds Hadley he explains to her that it’s hard for him to be fully honest because he is
scared to admit what truly is going on and is afraid of surprises and heartbreak. Hadley then
responds by just kissing him. The movie ends with the narrator talking about how they will stay
together for 58 years. A love story that was formed due to fate.

Rotten Tomato gave the movie 72% while audiences gave the movie a 92% rating. One
critic even said, “ This is my favorite rom-com movie. We need more rom-coms like this.” I
personally liked the movie because I love romance movies but if rom-coms are not the genre
you prefer I wouldn’t recommend this movie.
