Title Fight’s Hyperview Considered Mediocre Effort

Title Fight born out of Kingston, Pennsylvania is most notable for their songs Head In a Ceiling Fan and Safe in your skin. Recently these songs have been on popular app Tiktok, which has given Title Fight  more recent traction. In 2011 Title Fight signed to SideOneDummys records for their first album, second release Shed which carried amazing gravelly vocals and this raw post hardcore sound. In terms of talent Title Fights vocals are rather amateur but their emotion carries throughout their sound. Their tone brings great energy on and off stage and they earned a reputable name for their works.

Floral Green their second album was released in 2012 which is often regarded as their best album, along with Shed these two albums stand out as this main Title Fight sound.

I would highly recommend their songs Blush, 27, Numb But I Still Feel It, Leaf, You Cant Say Kingston Doesnt Love You, and Stab these sounds really capture the best of Title Fight.

So in 2015,  establishing themselves along the names of Touche Amore, and Rise Against. Title Fight releases Hyperview after signing with ANTI Records.  Up until this point Title Fight had earned its name for their quick catchy riffs, and their short yet meaningful vocals from bassist Ned Russin, and guitarist Jamie Rhoaden. Hyperview stays in Title Fights standard pattern of short sweet songs, but really empathize an almost bittersweet melancholic tone in their music. Less distortion, more woozy guitar feel.

The Album is really defined by songs like Chlorine and Hypernight”which use more complex tones and set the rhythm for the album. A song that stands out to me is Mrahc as the best on the album. A good competitor would be Murder your Memory”but there is this feel to Backwards Charm or Mrahc that gives us the mood of Hyperview but that classic Title Fight tone.

This album took me a couple listens to really grasp and it took a while for me to find a lot of the highlights that Title Fight laid out for us to listen to. This album was a solid listen and Ive found myself listening to tracks off here rather consistently. Despite that being said I feel like a lot of Title Fight fight songs are quite derivative from their influences, and this album can be said the same. Title Fight songs often work really great standing alone, and listening to this album all the way through can get pretty repetitive. 5/10 Definetely not Title Fights best work.
