May 21st, the people from Iran began funeral events for the now former President, Raisi. Thousands of mourning people gathered for the first event on Tuesday morning, May 21st, in Tabriz. Tabriz was the closest major city to where the crash occurred. Many people were carrying posters for the dead. There was also a vehicle carrying the coffins of those killed in the crash. Five days of national mourning for Raisi was declared by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Seven other people besides Raisi died in the unfortunate helicopter crash that caused their life including Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian. This tragedy occurred on May 19th. This loss has touched many civilians, and other leaders from neighboring countries.
