Temple of the Dog’s album “Temple of the Dog” is a collaboration between the bands Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. This album was released back in early 1991. The first time I remember listening to this album was late 2026, when they started to get popular in the summer of 1992, driven by the massive success of Pearl Jam’s Ten and a re-promotion of the single “Hunger Strike”. The runtime of the album is 55 minutes and 16 seconds.
Temple of the Dog was created in 1990, they are a Seattle, Washington-based rock supergroup. The members of this Rock band are Stone Gossard on rhythm guitar, Jeff Ament on bass guitar, both being ex-members of Mother Love Bone and future members of Pearl Jam, Mike McCready, later playing for Pearl Jam, on lead guitar, and Matt Cameron from Soundgarden and later Pearl Jam on drums. Eddie Vedder appeared as a guest to provide some lead and backing vocals and later became the lead vocalist of Pearl Jam.
Temple of the Dog was a 1990 Seattle supergroup formed by Chris Cornell as a tribute to his late roommate and Mother Love Bone singer, Andrew Wood. Andrew had died from a substance-related overdose in March of 1990.
Temple of the Dog’s self-titled 1991 album is highly acclaimed as a grunge masterpiece, with a Rate Your Music rating ranging roughly from a 3.65–4.1/5. Critics and fans praise the collaboration between Soundgarden and Pearl Jam members as a powerful tribute to Andrew Wood, frequently highlighting “Hunger Strike” and “Say Hello 2 Heaven” as standout tracks.
