The Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers faced off Thursday night in a close game with a dramatic ending with the result being a 5 – 4 Tigers victory. It was back and forth all night that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The game was highlighted by some great plays on both offense and defense on both sides of the ball.
The Tigers started the night strong with an early two run home run by Riley Greene, Tigers ace Tarik Skubal did what he does best and dominated on the mound. Skubal got pulled after 6 innings and that was when the Brewers started to gain some life after some clutch hits from Blake Perkins and David Hamilton. This gave the Brewers a 4 -3 lead heading into the 8th inning.
Detroit answered right away when Jones hammered a game tying solo home run early in the eighth inning. Then in the bottom of the ninth, Spencer Torkelson hit a walk-off solo home run to left center field to secure the victory. It gave such an incredible ending to what had been an incredible series between the Brewers and Tigers.
The Tigers took the series sweep over the Brewers (5-0) and have started to give the Tigers some life after a rocky start to the season. Detroit needs to figure out their bullpen pitching because the only time they find themself in trouble is when they turn to the bullpen. Ace Tarik Skubal can’t do all the pitching and will only get more fatigued as the season goes on and they turn to him more. While it was a great win for the Tigers, there are still plenty of problems that need to be fixed before they think about a deep playoff push.
