Gretel and Hansel Spin Artful Twist on Old Tale

Gretel and Hansel is a movie about where these two young kids get thrown out of their home by their mother. The sister (Sophia Lillis) leads her little brother (Sammy Leakey) through the dark woods until they stumble upon an old lady’s home. That’s when the evil starters and brother and sister try to escape but can’t.

Rotten Tomatoes has rated this movie a 62%. Rated PG-13, directed by Oz Perkins and written by Rob Hayes, the movie genre is horror, mystery and suspense, science fiction and fantasy. The movie came out in January.

I thought the movie was pretty good. It had some jump scares and wasn’t predictable. Some of the reviews from Rotten Tomatoes were, “A beautiful new arthouse spin on the classic fairytale, this is the first true good horror movie of the new decade,” said EJ Moreno. Also, “Gretel and Hansel” is a bizarre and dark version for sure, but also a bit self-serving on the part of the director. Hidden within it all, gorgeous cinematography,” said Vincent Schilling. I would give this movie an 8 out of 10.
