After a ten-year run with the Houston Texans, Watt requested to become a free agent. Finally, on Feb 12th of this year his request was granted.
Four days after Watt became a free-agent, De-Andre Hopkins, a former teammate of Watt made an edited post on Instagram showing both Hopkins and Watt wearing Cardinals uniforms. The caption of the post read, “Let’s finish what we started.”.
In Arizona, Watt will be paired up with another infamous pass-rusher named Chandler Jones. Jones leads the amount of sacks since 2012 with 97 sacks. Watt follows with a close second of 95.5 sacks since 2012.
According to ESPN these great statistics will have little to no effect on how well the Arizona Cardinals upcoming season will turn out. Their odds to win the Super Bowl still remain 40-1 and to win the NFC championship stands at 20-1.
Although the odds are not in the Cardinals favor for this upcoming season, the addition of a veteran player to their defensive team may boost morale and affect the moods of players on the team.
What will happen in the 2021 NFL season is still unknown as of now, but with so many team changes and other things happening, it is sure to be an interesting one.
