Straight Outta Cashville Nostalgic Time Warp Vibe

Straight Outta Cashville is rapper, Young Buck’s debut album. This album dropped in
2004 G-Unit and Interscope Records. The genre of this album is rap and features many other
artists, such as Lil’ Flip, David Banner, Stat Quo, Etc. Straight Outta Cashville only received
heavy promotion for about three months, because of the VIBE award incident, in which Young Buck
was arrested for assault. The case was eventually dropped and despite the minimal promotion,
the album became certified platinum.
I myself don’t really listen to much rap, so this album was kind of hard for me to get in
the mood for, but it was worth it. I really like a lot of the sound bites they use and beats in each
track. Even if I don’t care for a song on this album, the beat is usually still pretty good. I would
rate this album an R for all the crazy topics that Buck raps about. Some of the songs were kind of
grating to listen to, I’m pretty picky when it comes to rap and hip-hop. If I didn’t like a song,
9/10 times it was because I didn’t like the way it was sung. A lot of the songs seem like
stereotypical rap, but at the time of its release it was revolutionary and never done before, so it
definitely deserves some credit for that.
I would say I liked about half the songs on this album which is pretty good. Some songs
make you feel like a little ad boy but other ones make you cringe. This album just sounds,
smells, and feels like the mid-2000s which is so charming and nostalgic. Overall I would say
6/10 because I probably wouldn’t listen to this again but I enjoyed my listen through this time.
