Marty Supreme was released on Dec. 25th, 2025, hence “Marty Supreme Christmas Day.” This film takes place in the 1950s and is based off of fictional American table tennis player Marty Mauser, inspired by Marty Reisman, who has a mission to become world champion. The budget for this film was about $60-70 million, and the running time goes for 150 minutes. It has a 94% rating on rotten tomatoes, and 82% on the popcorn meter. There has been lots of advertising for this movie, especially done by the starring actor, Timothée Chalamet.
Marty Supreme would be described as an American sports comedy-drama, which is a little different from the movies that Josh Safdie writes or directs, along with Ronald Bronstein who also wrote and produced this film. The other producers included Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, and Timothée Chalamet. Timothée Chalamet was starring in this movie along with some other amazing actors and actresses such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, and more. This project was officially announced by Josh Safdie in July 2024.
The main character Marty Mouser lives in NYC and works as a shoe salesman. He has a goal to be the world’s best table tennis player. He is always trying to find ways to get money to help him out, especially so he can go to London to compete in a table tennis tournament. He spends the movie trying to gain trust from people who can help him get where he needs to be, while also trying to protect the people he cares about, but he has a special way of doing it. Marty is a very confident person and won’t let anything be in the way of his goal.
I personally loved this movie a lot. A lot of times when at a movie theater, even if I am enjoying the movie, I find myself waiting for it to end at a certain point, but this movie had me on the edge of my seat. Another thing that added to how powerful this movie is is the soundtrack, which I was also very impressed with. I would recommend this movie to anyone, whether they are more into romance, drama, comedy, sports, etc. I rate this film a 10/10 and I will definitely be rewatching when I can due to how amazing everyone working on this movie did.
