The Marauders traveled to Bath Wednesday night to face the Laingsburg Wolfpack in the district semifinal matchup. It was a close game throughout the first 3 quarters of play but in the end the Wolfpack pulled out the victory 50-35. In the win or go home game many of the Wolfpacks players stepped up when they needed them most. The Marauders season is over but there are plenty of things they learned and will carry into next season.
It was a back and forth game all night with Ovid-Elsie Sophomore Joie Fabus leading the charge for the Marauders with 10 points and 8 rebounds as well as 3 assists. Julian Medina gave a spark for the Marauders scoring 7 straight points at the start of the 3rd quarter. However a bad shooting night and rebounding for the Marauders is what put the nail in the coffin, going 2 of 12 from the 3 point line.
The wolfpack was led by Senior Kollin Bentily-Barr who led the game in scoring with 14 with 4 of those coming from behind the three point arc. Another Senior for the Wolfpack, Dolega, had 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, making a difference on the defensive end of the court. It was an all around team victory for the Wolfpack as they went on to play in the district finals.
With the loss the Marauders overall record goes to 12-12 on the season, a much better finish than how they started, but not the ending result they desired. The Wolfpack improved to 12-11 on the season and will play Bath Friday night in the district final which is held in Bath. The Marauders do have a lot of positives to look forward to as most of their team was underclassmen. So they will have more experience and maturity under their belt before heading into next season
