Disney’s Mulan Remains Popular With Teens

Faith Blacker, Staff writer

Disney’s Mulan is a great movie that was released back in June, 1998. Even though it was released over 20 years ago it is still a great movie that taught many young girls they could still do things guys could do. It is a very family-friendly movie, with a PG rating.

The movie starts off with the main character, Mulan, (Ming-na-wen) getting ready to see an official that will marry her off and not bring shame on her family. Long story short, the meeting goes terribly wrong and Mulan brings shame to her family. Later in the day Mulan’s father is called to serve in the war but he knows he will die because he is too old to fight. This causes Mulan to take her father’s place in the army, however she can not be caught doing this or she will be executed (due to women not being allowed to serve in the army during that time period).

This movie is directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook, and is played by many different stars and actors. On the Tomatometer, it scores a 85. All in all, Mulan is a movie that pretty much everyone at all ages can relate to/enjoy, and is one of my all time favorites.
