The Cloak & Dagger Club Remains Emo-Pop Classic

Spitalfield was formed in 1998 from the suburbs of Chicago. They were about to ride the
new second wave of Emo that began in the early 2000s. Their first release was an EP titled, The
Cloak & Dagger Club in 2002. Their first album release however is their smash hit, Remember
Right Now in 2003. Remember Right Now is 36 minutes long, has 10 songs, and is a
complete Emo-Pop masterpiece. It recently hit its 20th anniversary and the band went on tour in
Illinois.
The album’s 10 songs are all bangers, I love everything about them. It features tracks like
In the Same Lifetime and Make My Heart Attack that rip at the heart. It also has upbeat
anthems like their hit single, I Loved The Way She Said L.A. or Those Days You Felt Alive.
Lead vocalist and lyricist, Mark Rose does a beautiful job at conveying emotion through his
voice and words. This album features a song titled, Fairweather Friend, where their bassist
takes over lead vocals and kills it! Along with this feature, there are songs where the guitarist
creatively utilizes the strings up by the head.
Overall, this album features many stages of emotion and really paints a picture of where
the band was at mentally at the time. It’s a timeless classic that I think almost anybody could
like. It’s catchy, moving, and creative. I give this album a 10/10 and I know others would agree,
as this entire album was featured in the soundtrack of the XBOX game, Amped 2. Give this
album a listen if you’re looking for something new to jam out to.
