10 Things I Hate About You Receives High Marks

10 Things I Hate About You is a romantic comedy written by Karen McCullah, and Kirsten Smith. It was an adaptation of ‘Taming of the Shrew’. The running time is 97 minutes. It was released on March 31st, 1999.

Directed by Gil Junger, and produced by Andrew Lazar.  Heath Ledger portraying Patrick Verona, Julia Stiles as Katerina or “Kat” Stratford, Larisa Oleynik as Bianca Stratford, Joseph Gordan-Levitt portraying Cameron James, David Krumholtz as Michael, and finally Andrew Keegan as Joey Donner.

10 Things I Hate About You focuses on Cameron James who is infatuated with Bianca Stratford who unfortunately can’t date unless her older sister Kat dates. However, many people in the school see Katerina as abrasive, and temperamental. So Cameron and his best friend Michael devise a scheme for Kat to date Patrick Verona, an australian guy who mysteriously was out of school for a year.

10 Things I Hate About You scored a 71% on the Tomatometer and a 69% for the audience score. I found 10 I Hate About You a very cheesy, and adorable film. All the characters are entertaining and add their own importance to the film, and always makes me giggle. It is rated Pg-13 for profanity, sexual innuendo, and drug and alcohol use. I wouldn’t recommend to watch this movie around smaller children as there is profanity. However, I would recommend this movie for a cute movie date, or maybe just a movie to watch when you need something light-hearted to watch.
